Malaysia day 2
After a good night's sleep, we hit the ground running. We began our day at FRIM, Forest Research Institute of Malaysia. This is a man made forest just on the outskirts of the city Kuala Lumpur (KL) used primarily for research. All enjoyed hiking and we're entertained by the monkeys. Our guide pointed out a variety of plants used for medicinal purposes. Then it was on to lunch, which was at an outdoor Malaysian restaurant that included a traditional dance ceremony. We were all able to participate with the dancers on stage! After lunch, it was on to the Batu Caves. To view the temple inside the caves, we had to climb 270 steps, but it was well worth it! We enjoyed a break afterwards, had some tea while we waiting out a rainstorm. Next stop was the Tenmoku Pottery factory. We were led on a tour of the factory and each got to make our own hand impression. While waiting for those to dry, we enjoyed some shopping. Next stop included KL Central Market. All enjoyed shopping here and some dared to go to the fish spa.......much needed after all of the stair climbing! We walked over to Petaling Street for local dinner fare. Pictures to follow soon!
