How does one explain what it is like to stand at the mountain where the Christ (pbuh) gave his firstt sermon and looked out at the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights; stand on Mt, Nebo and look out at the promise land; go to the River Jordan and stand in the waters where the Christ was baptize. There are no words to convey the feelings.

So much history, yet at the same time so much modernity. SOme had their eyes examined in a manner better than expereinced in the states and purchased two pair of classes for about $125.00 (including the examine).

The people are wonderful. But I will tell you more about tat and the Roman ruins in another blog.

It is often difficult for me to get internet connection, so I please forgive my lack of postings. We also have wonderful pictures, but alas the connections are two slow:-( So, I will try to use words to describe the awe of Petra.

Once you visit this magnificant ancietn city you will immeadiately understand why it is one of the wonders of the world. The natural beauty and light is is equaled by the buildings carved into the rose coloured mountans. If you go to Jordan and you can only see one think GO TO PETRA!

If you can devert your eyes from the mountains and the buildings you will see the beauty of bedouins that are the merchants of this lost city. I swear I met the real Jack Sparrow as he may sure we got on his camle (yes we rode camles). They were very interested in hearing about Shenandoah University and several of our female travelers received marriage proposals (names will not be disclosed;-)

The next night we went to Wadi Rum and spent the night in the desert (it gets cold at night!). But we were up at 5:00 AM to watch the sunrise over the desert. Dr. Grigsby has uploaded video to FAcebook and I will be putting pictures on my Facebook (Dr. Davis) page when we get back.

It is late here and it has been a busy day. Will try to write again before we leave on Sunday night.

Reading these posts bring me back to 2 years ago - Dr. D. is right - how does one explain? GCP is the most wonderful program and I am so glad to see it continues...all the best to my Jordan family! Thanks, SU - thanks, GCP - and to our fearless leaders - Miles and Bryan
