Hola from Bolivia!

A free trip to another country is exciting for anyone! This is a little post from someone who has, one: never been outside the US, and two: never been on a plane before! Through the group meetings we've had for the past few months, I am confident that the new culture aspect of this trip will be met with an open mind and a whole heck of a lot of enthusiasm! However, the plane part was the part I was most nervous about. It probably didn't help that in the past month, I caught myself watching both the pilot of the show 'Lost', and the movie 'Snakes on a Plane'. Nonetheless, with 10 other amazing people in my group, my nerves were kept at ease, and survived the first flight to Miami! Turbulence was a little rough, but now after two more take offs and landings, we are all so ready for this Bolivia experience. So for those of you who might have weighed the idea on whether or not to apply to GCP because you're nervous having it be your first plane ride experience, let me tell you that not only is riding a plane exhilerating, but also that this is an opportunity you never want to pass up!

GCP Bolivia has checked in as well.  Here was the view of La Paz as they arrived, photo courtesy of Zach Woodley.

Costa Rica was the first group to depart and the first to begin their in-country adventures.  Here are a few photos from Jonathan Mills from the first day in Costa Rica.

Costa Rica is off to Dulles!

Hello everyone,
This is Sarah Giunta reporting for the Costa Rica group! We have successfully all loaded into our transportation van and are off to the airport to get through customs and security. The van is toasty warm (a little too warm), and everything still feels surreal. Many of us are traveling abroad for the first time and the excitement is bubbling up in all of us. Our only question right now is "Are we there yet??"

More soon! Safe travels everyone!

GCP 2014 is one week away from launch!

The 58 travelers for this year's Global Citizenship Project are excitedly awaiting the start of their journeys. All groups will depart on Friday, March 7. Costa Rica will start us off with an early morning departure from campus at midnight (Thurs), followed by South Korea, Bolivia, Morocco, and Albania. We will post confirmation of each group's safe arrival in their country as soon as they check in. They will also be blogging stories and photos as their time and internet connectivity allows. You can also keep connected via Facebook and Twitter. So stay tuned!
